Strange as it may seem, there was a time when I didn’t have enough shirts. I’d been so busy making everything other than shirts, my wardrobe looked a bit unbalanced.
My original shirt pattern was drafted years ago and, as much as I hate to admit it, I’m no longer my slimmer younger self. I found myself gravitating towards a looser shape, but still well-cut. I also improved the shape of the collar, going for a more fitted shape around the neck with a more defined top collar.
I also realised that I was lacking shirts with prints on them too (GASP!). What had I been doing with all my Liberty fabric?
I decided to get started on a project to redress this issue and decided to make a few new shirts to wear. Before long, I ended up with a nice collection of shirts. Here are a few I’ve worn recently.
Important factors when it came to choosing fabric for shirts include the quality of the fabric, the colour, and the print. After all, if you’re going to spend time and effort making something, you might as well splash out on the materials.
